Thanks for the clarification. I was getting a little confused with all the action. Sure do like the crisp new sound of my local peeps! It's like they are snuggled up next to me in my easy chair. Ahh....

Just confirmed 6665 being used by Burleson PD as "channel 2". Probably will be listed in the database as Burleson PD Dispatch 2.

Anyway, I have submitted the information to the database admins......

Default Help with my Pro-197

How would I search a police deparment around me? I have always used software like Radio Reference for downloading, looking around the talk groups I have seen there is a way to find other channels within the talk group that are not posted on Radio Reference...like Burleson PD in Texas, they list only PD 1 and 2 and FD 1, but someone out there said they have a Swat channel and a animal control one.....Please help...

Thanks

Vinny

Add a "group" wildcard to the talkgroup list. That will give you the talkgroup ID of any TGID that you do not already have programmed. The scanner will show the ID, and you'll see "Store" on the display if you'd like to save it. That saves it with the ID as the text tag, but once you determine who it is, and what the usage is, you can then edit the tag to match, either on the scanner, or software (if you're using software).

What I do, for a system that is new, or adding users like FWRRS (which is the system you're speaking of) is also set the alert LED to white, and to flash when it stops on the wildcard, to catch my attention.

That's because those are the only talk groups that have been confirmed and submitted to the database. Once more talk groups are confirmed and submitted, they will be listed. So far those three are all that I have been able to confirm.

For the very first time, I heard Burleson PD on IH35E yesterday. Hopefully, the widespread use of encryption will be limited to Ft. Worth. In time, hopefully, they will come to their senses regarding pervasive encryption.

Unfortunately, it appears Arlington is going to encrypt everything when they go digital.

I saw that. I hope Grand Prairie does not follow suit when they transition to FWRRS.

Yes, that is what I heard.

I know this does not matter to some, but I will be traveling an alternate route when I go north, 35E , not 35W.

I cannot fathom why Arlington would follow Ft. Worth since they tend to present such a friendly vibe to the public. Again, I am lucky to live in a scanner-friendly city where the police are supportive of an informed public.

In Waco, the cops know they have the upper hand by using some encryption. Previously, I did enjoy monitoring USMS working with the Lone Star Fugitive Task force. This was when Waco was one of the TxWarn P25 sites. Since then, most of the time, they use encryption. However, most of the McLennan County LE transmissions are in the clear.
