• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Howdy, y'all,
I read that the XPR7550e has an ÆS encryption feature available for DMR. I know Basic and Enhanced Privacy are available through CPS but I was curious how to set up ÆS on the XPR. Most of my experience is with ASTRO/APX series radios and I know that keyloading has to be done with a KVL (with the exception of ADP and ÆS on the APX900). Is this the same case ÆS with the XPR7550e or can you set it up with CPS?

Seems like you used to be able to purchase the entitlement legitimately before Moto got rid of it. HKVN4244 is the part number, google yields a few results.

It’s already loaded in every 7550 sold in America. And it takes 10 seconds to unlock without ever seeing the software we can not discuss. And the AES key is entered with CPS.

Oh yea? So how do we unlock it?

Do XPR's have a FLASHCode or something similar that lists all the features?
There is a flash code, but it never seems to change when features are added. When you read the radio, in radio info it shows all the features available to the radio. Some show that they came with the radio, some show as purchased, while others show that they are available for purchase.

XPRs do have a flashcode, however it is irrelevant to their feature list. The feature list can be seen on CPS when you read the radio, under device information; it will list options that are purchased, included(free), or available for purchase.

AFAIK reading the radio through CPS is the only way to get a comprehensive feature list of the radios.

Someone smarter than me figured out if they add a few files to regular CPS, that unlocks any features that are already in the radio. Way above my understanding though.

It's always someone smarter than you..

I'm curious about that. Is it against forum rules for you to point me in the direction of some of that information? I assume it is but I could be wrong.

It is available, but I've no idea what hoops you have to jump thru to be able to get it. There are a few small/mid-sized police agencies in my area using it that are serviced by Bearcom.

I’m not a mod, so I don’t know. But there’s a wealth of information to be found on the “Austech” site.
