Just wanted to show some pics of my temporary mobile scanner shack and get some input on it.
The base vehicle is a 2001 NISSAN Altima.
Upgrades include:

1-Uniden BC346XT handheld scanner with rubber ducky antenna for when i am out of the vehicle.
2-Antennex (approximately) 18" Trunk lip adapter mounted to the hood on passenger side. Anyone know the model number of it by chance?
3-Wilson Little Wil' Magnetic CB antenna on trunk lid driver side directly next to the edge so not much cord shows.
4- CB, currently on the fritz.. So it's not in the vehicle right now.

Go ahead and be harsh if you don't like it, i don't care.
But admit for a newb and a youngster, it's not too bad.. We all have to start somewhere.

Now being a newb, i have a question for you guys/gals who have been at this longer than I have..
Any ideas on a good quality external speaker I could use with the BC346XT so I can actually hear what they say better sometimes while driving and listening? The one I bought from RoadPro at a Love's truckstop isn't cutting it.. I have the scanner volume all the way up and it's louder with NO ext. speaker hooked up. haha go figure.

Nothing wrong with at all, mhubert! I would recommend the Uniden BC23A amplified speaker. I have it in my vehicle and it blows the doors off with my 396XT.

Cheers!

Just remember, magnetic antenna mounts are a compromise, at best. They will mar the finish of your car, not make good electrical/ground connection with the body of your car, and where the coax comes through gets bent and crushed every time you open and close the trunk lid. I'm not going to say that you have a bad install, it's very neat and tidy. Just don't go permanent using magnetic mount antenna's.

Very neat and clean! Some will rag on you because you haven't drilled holes or because you have a mag mount but you can rest assured it's a great install for your temporary mobile shack (as you stated) and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the setup and install as you have shown us. Nicely done!

I don't want to start a flame war, but with my 45+ years of radio experience (both ham and commercial), I don't think I'm "ragging," however providing information and guidance to the young ham op. Of course there's "nothing wrong," but advice to consider for the future.

Soapbox mode toggled off.

I don't think that with a 12 year old car, he's worried about marring the finish:D I, myself, have used mag mount antennas is temporary installs. I do use, however, trunk lip mounts. Last vehicle I drilled holes for was over twenty years ago.
Do know that Wilson does make a trunk lip mount.
To the OP, nice simple set up. Can't wait to see the new improved one:)

Thanks for the kind words and the advice everyone so far. My plan is once I get a set vehicle to put it all in is to hard wire everything and do it properly. My future hardwired install will be much more equipment than just what's here currently. LED's after I become a VFF (and AMBER for work) all on seperate switches, a mobile scanner, CB, Laptop mount, and a few more goodies. I'll be sure and post pics as soon as it's complete and some from during the process.
