• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

27.435
27.445
Alot of UK and North America traffic.

High noon propagation during SC25 rise-time is fruitful. Currently F10.7 Solar Flux 141.7 | Very quiet geomagnetic field | Noise floor S0-S1 | Alpha index 6

What of your rig? Base or Mobile? Radio & Antenna? What would someone new need to emulate? (Asked of anyone following along).

Indeed! A fellow from Ireland was booming into Ontario today, but unfortunately I couldn't get through to him. (My rig is a President McKinley barefoot through a Sirio Performer 5000 magmounted on my car).

The ATS 20+ Si4732 based DSP radio. 9 foot wire connected to it's rod antenna taped vertically to the wall. Another 9ft wire connected to chassis ground of the radio with most of it's length dangling out the window not connected to anything else. 12 gauge speaker wire.

And everyone be known that solar flux rose to 157 today. The sweet spot. Listen for more DX tomorrow!

We do have a CHHSS (solar wind) at 500km/s causing active geomagnetic storming overnight N. America/Central & South America time. UK and Europe/Africa pre-dawn grey line. That would inhibit lower half of the daytime HF spectrum. 11m is up in the air. I seen band openings with the same kind of conditions in the past. We will see.

There are times when a station in skip land will be heard in a pile-up but he or she may be hearing a few stations you may not be able to hear. Propagation is funny. You hear ghost talking but not hearing everyone the station you hear is hearing. FoF2 needs to be worked with a beam antenna in that situation. Since most of this propagation is high noon into the evening hours it is solar influenced thus FoF2 propagation. More than just seasonal.

For working FoF2 with a beam antenna, swing the beam around until his or her signal is maxed. If it is pointed in a direction that does not make sense then you found their long path and have a better chance to propagate. Might even defeat the 500 watt stations. It can happen.
