Hearing skip on 155.1900 which is the county sheriff frequency that covers areas of Winnebago County such as Loves Park and Machesney Park IL. Heard the dispatcher and the radio car loud and clear. The dispatcher said something about Clearwater Lake Road. I have no idea where that is. After the dispatcher and the radio car were done speaking the Winnebago County dispatcher then got a turn to speak. The skip was coming in strong and still is. I heard this on a base scanner with a telescopic antenna and on my PSR-500 with a 800mhz. antenna.

Just an update, the skip for where ever this is coming in from is strong and I heard a call go out for suspcious activity at the Hong Kong Cafe and something about the 135 bypass. I googled the 135 bypass and the road goes through Kansas. I'm not sure if it is coming from Kansas though.

Doing a little digging it is likely coming out of Salina, KS. Both I-135 runs there and there is a Hong Kong Buffet there. Very well could be what you heard.

Welcome to the world of tropospheric ducting.

Tropo was heavy up here last night. Omaha/Lincoln FM radio stations all full quieting, here are a few that I normally do not hear up here in Norfolk, Ne.

FM-RadioShack DX 396/w telescoping antenna
Scanner-Uniden BC296D, w/duckie 800mhz antenna

Omaha:

KEZO 92.3
KQCH 94.1
KQBW 96.1----blasting up and over the splatter of K242BE, 96.3, Norfolk, Ne. The transmitter is almost across the street from me.

Lincoln:

KFRX 106.3
KZKX 96.9
KLNC 105.3, this was doubling with KIOD 105.3-McCook, Ne.

Others:

KELN 97.1-North Platte
KLIQ 94.5-Hastings, was able to dredge up out of the splatter of local KNEN 94.7.

Not to mention revieving 800mhz TRS out of Omaha, excellent with good P25 decoding for most of the night. All the NOAA frequencies carried weather from places such as Lincoln, Omaha, Grand Island, Ne and Hays, Ks, to name a few.

Ya gotta love tropo! It is one of my favorite ways to DX, besides VHF low band.

I was surprised to pick up Salina KS with a RS 800mhz antenna. Salina is over 650 miles from where I live. I skip is good again tonight.
