I was using the Spectrum Sweeper on my WS1040 and it got a hit on this channel. The only possible user would be Georgian Bay Fire Disp, but the tone was 173.8 PL on my scanner and they don't use that tone. I checked which other channels use this tone in Simcoe County, but the frequencies weren't within acceptable parameters to be possible hits. I'm new to this sort of thing, so is it possible that my scanner decoded the wrong tone or could it just be missing information?

All I heard on the channel was the acknowledgement of a message.

That would make a lot of sense. I was considering programming the input frequencies for more distant fire department channels so I could listen in, considering I live near Barrie Fire Station 1 where most of that dispatching is done for at the moment.

That makes perfect sense. Chances are the remote base for Georgian Bay Fire is on one of the water towers in the north end of Barrie. You would be able to hear Barrie Fire on the input quite easily.

Hmmm.... I think they dispatch for Huntsville/Port Sydney Fire. Will have to toss in the input and see if I can hear them.
