161.925 / 161.850 hearing police?

On 161.925 and 161.850 Im hearing what sounds like a police dispatch. Has the maritime band been rebanded? I have never really scanned this band,,,,ever lol. So I was pretty surprised to hear this. Im located in Grove,Ok 74344. Im hearing Springfield Pd out of Missouri lol. Any help would be great.

The FCC modified the allocation tables some years back to allow public safety to utilize certain VHF marine channels in area far inland from major water bodies.

Thank you, that makes sense then! Just goes to show you have to scan everywhere lol. Would have never have found these two gems otherwise and certainly wouldnt think to look there. Thank you again!!

Those are auctioned VHF Public Coast frequencies. Public safety and other users can buy or lease VPC channels from the license holder.
