I think I posted these before, but since then the forums have done their over haul.
I don't have the Dakota anymore, got me a 2005 Chevy Colorado. I will be taking a few pics of that install. So.. Enjoy!

And yes, its a home made laptop mount. Managed to put it together for about $20 from plumbing parts from Home Depot.

Yeah, I've been browsing every now and then. But its good to be back posting. As for the drill holes, I had to get creative.. and not use a drill. I'll post the pics when I take some decent ones.

It was a little tricky. I did build a custom console at one point in time, managed to squeeze in two spectras, the bct-8 and the pa300 thing. BUT, it was a little too cumbersome and awkward to drive with, so I just went back to what is pictured there.

I could just unhook the things in the back and pull the whole console out, nice and easy. The laptop is mounted in the cup holder. Turns out Home Depot sells a metal falange (sp?) that fit perfectly into the cup holder. Just drilled 3 small holes and mounted it with some nuts and bolts. And it was easily removed. The rubber cup holder insert covered the holes when the mount was removed :)

The mount twists and turns nicely, and can be adjusted with other metal pipe. AND velcro on the bottom of the laptop attach it to the plexiglas base. The new one I build for my Chevy is basically the same, with some slight modifications, and the wonderful worlf of physics ;)
