Here is my recently-completed CB installation in my truck, and all the details.

The console is an 8" Havis-Shields Consolidator angled-series. It is bolted to a plastic plate that the old center console was attached to. Rather than drill through the floor I just attached the console to this. I took the "screw-it" approach to moving the air-bag disconnect switch and just stuffed it back into the dashboard to make room. For now, the extension speaker is sitting on the floor until I find a good place to mount it.

The previous owner of this vehicle was nice enough to leave his Monster Cable amplifier installation kit still installed. I moved the power cable from the back area to where the console is, stuck a relay on it, and used it for a dedicated power feed from the battery.

The antenna is a Firestik attached to a Firestik stake-hole mount. SWR is around 1.8.

Nice and clean. Ignore some of the other negative comments... radio is radio. It's how you use it that counts.

i agree with specman! ignore them

alot of people dont like cbers, i run one also and have fun with it thats what counts

nice setup as for the 1.8 swr run a ground strap to the frame, i know firesticks are hard to tune may i suggest a wilson magmount either 1000 or 5000 they tune easy and tx/rx well and they will take some watts,

i run a predator 10k it is the best cb antenna out it will take as many watts as you throw at it, i run alot of power and compete in keydowns, if you have any questions about cbs antennas ect let me know,

I get teased about having a CB in my jeep too. The usual line is "why don't you use your cell phone?" (I live right near Washington DC). But the 4x4 club I joined uses CB not FRS or GMRS so I got a crash course in install and antenna tuning. However my antenna sucks for the city, I have to keep dismounting it or I'd trash it in the first parking garage I pulled in to.

Im a ham, and alot of my ham buddies have CB's, and we love to have them when we wanna get a little roady, and get away from listening ears.

Anyways, love the install. Good radio as well.
