I looked everywhere on the net for pictures of a Mercury Grand Marquis with a radio installed. I finally took a few ideas and decided to do this, (pictures below). I mounted the bracket to the cup holder, underneath the lip that you would pull it out from. I mounted it there so it would not be noticable when I end up selling the car. I had just enough room to place a Presidental external speaker. I used velcro to secure the speaker to the hump mount so I would not have to drill any holes..and it leaves me the option of moving it if I want to. The only thing I need to do is get some tubing for the wires and I'll have a pretty cool set up!

Good use of space. If I remember correctly that is a heavy radio, I would think you would want to keep the cup holder closed most of the time as to not damage cup holder.

At kjfswkr - It is a heavy radio. The cup holder appears to be very sturdy. My wimpy self tried to pull and tug on it to remove it and it was not goona come out. I can also close the cup holder and it still looks nice but a little to far away from me to utilize. I wanted to remove the cup holder and place the radio there but the cupholder has bigger muscles than I do..apparently! lol. Thank you for the comment.

2002 Marquis

take the whole ash tray assembly out..it comes out easily, you can easily fit 2 radios in the space,,i did it,,worked great for ten years.

I have a 2002 Marquis and I also took out the ashtray and replaced it with a Motorola Spectra and a Uniden 78 cb radio. It's not perfect but there isn't a lot of other places to go in that car.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I do want to put another radio in so this will make me believe that my scrawny self can figure out how to get the cup holder out without breaking anything!!
