2006 Pontiac Torrent Install

I added a couple of antennas to the roof of my SUV as well as a modem and decided to document it along the way. I sealed the threads with marine grease which I know will last because of how much of a pain it was to get off my hands.
The antennas are:
VHF- 1/2 2dBd Sinclair SVB-1486S
UHF- no gain Sinclair SUT-4060EXS
800- 3dBd Laird TRAB8063
Modem- MobileMark MGW305

Trunk lip mounts as a backup mounting point.

The modem is a Cypress Solutions Chameleon CTM-200r2.
Accelerometer, BT, WIFI BGN, OBDII, serial, you name it.

And FYI, my sunroof didn't interfere with the install, it actually helped!

Only have my HomePatrol-1 wired up to the VHF antenna. Don't have any mobiles yet, working on portables! The HomePatrol is Ram Mounted to the windshield with coax from the rear.

Thanks for the compliments. I live in Ontario and the Provincial Enforcement vehicles(Provincial Police, Transportation police, natural resources Police, etc) use Sinclair so I figured it would be more then durable enough for me. No complaints with the Sinclairs, and I love the built in gasket. Kicks Larsens SuperSeals butt!

Funny you mention Larsen. They are my go to. I have a NMO 150, WB 150 and a NMO 2/70. The only other antenna I would use is the Sinclair series(aside from the Maxrad elevated feed UHF high gain antennas)

I guess my experience was different. I had a SUB-4303 that I had to replace twice because the plastic base started coming apart along one of the seams. Electrically it worked well for 70cm ham but the repeated splitting concerned me. None of my Larsen antennas have had that issue.

I'll admit that the Larsen Antennas are nice but Sinclairs are nice for having the built in gasket that you don't have to worry about. That, and the springs for Sinclair are nice and durable but not too stiff as to cause a whip to bend

I'm concerned about the space between the antennas though... I mean if it works- it works. I guess where roof real estate is concerned you have to do what you can.

Very nice antenna installation. I too have had good luck with marine sealant. No leaks and lots of off road use and vibration.

Use mostly Larson antennas as well. They have held up for the most part. Only the black painted ones seem to lose their finish. 11 years some have lasted.

Thanks for the compliments. Went through the touch less car wash and the spot of marine grease that I sealed the threads with that I accidentally left on the roof was untouched, so I don't need to worry about driving rain or snow washing it off!

All looks good,I have to ask why you put the antenna on the back tailgate instead of the roof?
