2007 Chevrolet Silverado

Did a search, so please forgive if this is a repeat question................


Any suggestions on the best place or way to run wire through the firewall to attach a power source at the battery?? I will be running a 2052, a 65 watt vhf rig, and possibly an HF rig, so i will need to draw a lot more current than a cigarette plug will handle.
I Crawled under the truck to look but saw no apparent good way to run the wire, so any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

start at your battery then follow a path along the fender to the firewall, not sure what side your battery is on, if its the drivers side look under the break booster on the firewall you will see some rubber grommets, punch, pull your wires, seal the hole . there you have the short version. windchaser usmm ret

The throttle cable also runs through a rubber grommet. That's a route I have often used.

thanks guys--now i see the grommet under the brake booster--not very visible without knowing where to look so you guys saved the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off the 2007 Silverado won't have a throttle cable, they went electric throttle control in 2004 in preparation for the hybird and displacement on demand features.

The grommit is just above the drivers side fender. Its real easy to add more wires to, you can unplug the harness at the underhood fuse box and the dash side and pull the whole thing out if you want. Then unwrap some tape and remove the split loom and puke your wire through then put everything back together. The hole is about 3" diameter with about 1" of wire going through so there is a lot of room to add more.

Silverado Install

I have a 07 Silverado myself and I ran the wires by the passenger side door since the battery is on that side. I enclosed my wires in heavy rubber tubeing. There are 2 small square holes on the dash by the radio, that hold the radio shack cube speakers really well. Going through the firewall on that truck is a bit tough since the trucks sits so high, so getting up there and through the firewall was pretty tough. Look for the opening on the passenger side and try that out too!
