30.820 is another Van Pool frequency, I believe it's Base 6
I looked at Van Pool on the FCC and checked out there site. Look like they have a radio show who still knows ho to properly do low band. Antenna on the roof. Even tho base loaded. 29.74 is low low band

They transmit a continuous signal, usually CW, with their callsign and location. When you hear them you know there is a band opening.

Most of them are CW or low speed digital modes. You would need a SSB/CW capable receiver to be able to hear the tone and identify what you were hearing. Only you can determine if it's worth it to try to listen on a scanner that only receives FM and AM.
33.96 Old Lyme and Lyme are in New London county,
