Got a new daily driver, and installed my APX7500 VHF/7/800

O5 Control Head is just a placeholder until I can get my hands on a decently priced E5. Control Head trunnion was the perfect size for the storage pocket above the shifter. Ignore the bad cable management on the RF deck, I promise i cleaned it up and loomed it after this pic was taken.

Nice. Every time I see someone posting or talking about these Motorola radios and referencing O5, E5, Z28, whatever, I and reminded that I need to do some research and figure out what the differences are between all of them.
(Yes, the z28 reference was sarcastic in case someone took that seriously.)

Finally got my antenna in the mail today! Panorama GPSD-7-27-24-58 base with a Panorama ASFC-155-U2-821 Tri-Band whip.

Found the base with all the cables on eBay brand new for only $99, and had the whip from my last car.

Eventually there will be a mobile router in this car, thus the need for the fancy base. Plus I really like the way it looks :ROFLMAO:

so standard microphone or one of the keypad units?
At the moment nothing, but I am going to order a rear accessory connector shell and GCAI pigtail to pin and hopefully get the keypad mic working from the rear of the control head. I HATE the mic coming out the normal port, because it interferes with the shifter and push start. But the mic extension cable doesn't work with the keypad mic

I want the keypad mic mainly for the ability to use the programmable keys, and the zone selection without reaching down to the control head.

Hopefully my hairbrained theory works (y)

That screen does look crisp! I like that look. Moto been doing good on design in recent years.

Of course, I think Kenwood has, too, on the NX-5000 series and some on the Viking side, too.
I haven't had the opportunity to see a KCH-20 in person yet, but I do think it is pretty sharp looking.

still no microphone? You've got me thinking how to mount same in my Outback!!!
So I was having a lot of trouble getting my keypad mic to work with any extension, so I did cave and just plugged it in to the front GCAI on the head. I’ll post a pic in a bit
