My setup is not the best for monitoring this range but I do hear
a YL in EE giving what sounds like?? flight information or similar

Interesting. Is it FM or AM mode? if the latter I wonder if you are hearing the second harmonic of a strong local airband frequency.

Good pickup :)

I thought ground allocations in the 240-270MHz UHF SATCOM range were avoided, but I see a few frequencies in that list.

This is the same as the mistaken assumption that 380-400 MHz is reassigned to P25 trunking. 225-400 MHz is not managed by the FCC or even NTIA. It is strictly a military spectrum space and none of it is specifically assigned to only one mode or one service. You will find AM mode air to air and ground to air anywhere between 225 and 400 MHz that it does not interfere with SATCOM or P25 trunking or anything else.
