The WA forum can go days without a post...
Rarely do I see more than 3 active topics per day.

380.075 Seems to be the primary or Simulcast control for the Fort Lewis cell; it's located at Madigan.

385.3125 control channel (site 02?) is coming from across the water, or McNeil Island...It's 99-100% in Steilacoom.

Add 8616 as some sort of range control talkgroup.

Has anyone been able to track the Fort Lewis 380 system with a 396. When I was up at Puyallup Ham Fair last month I had absolutely no luck tracking this system either in trunk mode or listening to it conventionally. The talkgroups and frequencies I was monitoring were not encrypted, but I still only got a digital blip and occasionally a fraction of a word. I tried turning on and off Digital AGC and changing the P25 setting, with still no luck. Chris was up there with his scanner (don't remember which one and he was tracking with no issues). I did apply the new update last night so I will have to make a trip up there and try it again.
Thanks
Jeremy

I'm just going to keep updating these as I get them.

On the Fort Lewis system today:

8106- Camera and alarm techs, poss at the 1st SFG.
8224- Two guys just chatting, cursing.
8611- Sounds like an field training exercise for mil police, running a compound for 'detainees'. Cellblocks, towers, less-lethal rounds deployed, mealtimes, and mentions of COB role-players.
8612- Same as 8611
8819- Poss dial-a-ride? Transportation units giving soldiers rides to/from Madigan. Civilians used.

23808- On the DOD regional system, PSNS fill-in site (02). Security or police, half clear, half DES. Mentions of alarms, convoy route security. Mike units.

Now that I have my 396 upgraded with the new firmware. Probably have to sell a child to slavery to pay for gas to get up there now

If you do, hit the Naval side of things in the Bremerton area- I have nothing from there yet.

I'll make a submission to the DB, Ken.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch:

Found another site on the DOD regional system:

Site 001
Control channel 385.0625
Voice Channel 386.4875 (only one noted so far)
Talkgroups-
23583- Only DES noted
23625- Only DES noted- very active

This was a 99% strength in SeaTac near the airport, atop a hill, so I figure it's across the water. I can't hear it from the South End, so maybe a small filler near Port Orchard?

I really need to take a trip over that way.

There needs to be a division of data on the database for this system somehow...The Fort Lewis sites (3 of them) are on a completely different subsystem from the rest of the DOD sites. Therefore, while the primary site for the Fort Lewis system broadcasts a sysID of 14C and a site number of 001; one of the DOD sites also broadcasts a sysID of 14C and a site number of 001.

The litmus test of the division is, like Chris P opined in his excellent MT article, the fact that the talkgroups for the DOD/Navy side of the system never appear on the Fort Lewis system, nor vice-versa. The freqs are all different, too. Whereas the FTL ones run 380-385, the DOD ones tend to run 385-388. Also, the talkgroups IDs for the FTL system stay between 8000-9000, while the DOD TG IDs run 20000 or higher.

Maybe the database should be split into 2 entries, one being the Fort Lewis/Army (as they have some stuff in Yakima as well) system, with a sysID of 14C, and the other being the regional/nationwide DOD system, also with a sysID of 14C?

Someone with more technical knowledge than myself could do a better job explaining this, I'm sure.

I understand what you are saying here and that would be why I asked somewhere here if the system Id was 14c as the tg's like you said run a little higher than the xxxx that you posted here and the fact the stuff that you posted here about the freq range of 380-385 is not in the 385-388 like the rest of the DOD system
hum at this point I am thinking that I should move all of the stuff in the 380-385 and the TG's that you posted here and make a new page for Fort Lewis kind of like the Mcchord page.

I'm wondering if 14C is a default system ID just as BEE00 is the default WACN. Thus the reason for seeing 14C IDs all over the country.
