Hi, I used to live in Virginia Beach growing up and later in Portsmouth and then Chesapeake. I used to hear hourly transmissions on 39.12 (statewide corrections) and occasionally on 39.54 (SIRS). SIRS used to be (or might still be) used when transporting prisoners by sheriff vehicles to different locations in the state, and 39.12 was used by all the state correctional locations as a common frequency (even though the individual facilities were using their own UHF repeaters etc). Does anyone hear anything on either of these frequencies? I checked the FCC database and they have been renewed and are currently licensed, so I am assuming they are being used. I am primarily interested in a low band signal to test my Diamond 3000 discone antenna with using a radio shack tv preamplifier.

Thank you

Richard

I last heard DOC transport on the Stars system before it went dark. It was busy last year when I had it all setup.

ORION has taken place of SIRS, for the greater Hampton Roads area. VSP DIV 5 and pretty much all the local E-911 Center’s monitor it. I’ve heard Eastern Shore 911 on ORION Incident Command 1 as recently, or it’s over the phone. For the DOC frequency, I’d say they use STARS. Like the other user stated, they were pretty active on STARS when you could hear them
