Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all,
Looking for some help, please tell me what setting i’m missing?? I have setup an XPR4550 VHF for IP site connect, but I cannot get the radio to auto roam the sites. I’m setting it up for 3 sites, I have added a regular channel for site 1 setup all my contacts and RX groups, then for site 2 and 3 I have added channels to the Channel Pool to put site 2 and 3 in there for the roaming. I have enabled IP site connect setting on all channels, and setup my roam list, wrote the programming to the radio, but it will not auto roam the sites, I have programmed a button for manual roam, and that works, but I want the radio to auto roam. Is there a setting in the CPS somewhere that sets it up to auto roam? Thanks for all help.

look at your roam list and adjust the rssi threshold to tell the radio when to start looking for a stronger site, make sure site lock isn't being used.

Be cautious of any RSSI over 100 (101, 102, 103, etc). Many systems experience issues with subscribers programmed above 100. TT

Bad thing with adjusting the RSSI too high on "Roam" is when you travel "outside" or on the fringe of your range / coverage area, when you are manually locked on one site, you can still talk / receive, when in "Roam", the radio will keep on searching for a site with the lesser RSI value.

Enc plays into this as well, on the fringes, a radio without Enc will still work, but with Enc enabled, the extra packets have a difficult time trying to get through, and it won't receive all the packets = not receive the conversation. This is why the claim of "Enc limits range" is relevant.
