396t and edacs

I just did some programming with my 396 it dosen't seem to be recieveing any edacs systems. all other trucks systems appear to be working any suggestions?

Are the LCNs entered correctly for the systems you entered.

Make sure you have the LCN's in the correct order and that you have "wide or narrow" properly selected for the system.
If all programming looks ok, if you push manual, with the edacs being the only system selected, do you hear the control channel sounds?
When scanning, put it in "search mode" and see if you hear anything. I am assuming that you have talk groups programed into the system.

EDACS works very well on my 396, as the others said make sure your vhannels are in the correct LCN order and the wide/narrow is right, otherwise it should do fine.
It works a whole lot better than my 2096!

You're not getting the EDACS beeps? That is a common glitch on the 396, at least with the newest firmware. I wonder if they came up with a hardware fix.

My 396 is about 2 months old and came with the latest firmware. I have problems with the beeps on about 5% of transmissions. I'd love for Uniden to fix it.

There are very week beeps on occasion, but nothing that bothers me, even with an earphone I barely notice them when they occur, which isn't all the time.

I have experienced the EDACS beeps, but I wonder if it's related to signal strength?

I have a really strong EDACS system near me (SF Bay Area BART EDACS System) and have no beeps from it.

I can also hear Oakland, Ca's EDACS system, but the signal is weak (about 2 bars on the 396's strength meter) and I get beeps about 50% of the time.

Me too! If they had a fix for it they would have released a firmware update by now. I don't understand that because this is my only Uniden that does it. My Pro-96 never does that, even in fringe reception areas.

With the original firmware, it allowed the beeps through only if the previous transmission happened to be on a Motorola digital system (in a different bank of course). With a later firmware revision is was better, but still very much present. On the most recent firmware it actually was much worse. So I reverted to an "intermediate" version, where it wasn't quite so bad.

This happens even when I am only a few miles from the tower on flat terrain. My RF on the 396 can't be THAT bad! Or can it?

I don't know why you get the neeps, but it doesn't seem related to sig strength, more by agency.

i work right by the hartford ct. sites and the "neeps" still happen frequently enough , especially if the whole trunk system is busy , it doesnt seem that bad early in the morning when the system is pretty much dead , but once schools open , and the DPW crews start coming on , and all the other users ....thats when i start getting them frequently.
