396T Firmware- "AGC---" "VOL---"

Is there some new function to these ? Or is it just a diff way of displaying it?

I noticed the same thing in the hidden digital menu on the 996 after firmware update.
however when you switch to analog mode it has the same display but the numbers chang value indicating the AGC is working

Noticed this too.. Seems as if its not working at all in digital, hard to tell if it is...

It works, you just need to turn off the digital AGC to see the analog numbers with the analog AGC on, or turn the analog AGC off to see the digital numbers with the digital AGC on.

I would love to agree with you. But It does not work like it used to before the last update.

Analog on, digital off- You get changing numbers. Not ---.

Digital on, analog off- You only get ---. No changing numbers.

Honesty, it does not sound like digital AGC even works anymore with the newest firmware.

Worked before the newest firmware. Add one thing, break another is the trend lately.

Well my analog numbers display anyway. Did you press the hold putton and then turn the power on? This is firmware 1.13.17.

Thats what im gettin. I don't like agc myself so.. I like to be able to draw out the bass tones in the grumbly voiced p25. Makes it clearer. I would agree that the traditional "agc" concept has evolved away from this scanner. I don't think this scanner could do a real hard felt agc sound. But what the hell.. it's a great scanner.
