396T programing help

I am trying to update the firmware in my Uniden 396T to the latest version and i am stuck. I am using a usb cable and it seems that I need the serial cable to complete this. If anyone in the Phila area can help me with either doing the update or lending me the cable so I can to it I appreciate it. It's a brick right now until if finish this and I need to get it done before the weekend storm. Thanks,

Welcome to RR. AFAIK, you should be able to use USB, but you must install the latest drivers for your cable. Connecting scanners via USB - The RadioReference Wiki
