I am transitioning from a BC296D (what a workhorse) to a BCD396XT. The 296 had issues around paging sites and cell sites (Nextel?). The audio would stop even though the channel still had traffic on it. This was probably caused by an overloaded front end. I expected some issues with the BCD396XT but it is actually worse. What used to be a one block "dead" area is now two blocks.
Will the use of the intermediate frequency exchange function help this?
How does one use the IF exchange? I had a channel on hold and pressed Function, 4 and received a fast double beep.
This is on the City of San Diego trunked system SDPD uses.
Thanks for any ideas.
