Chris is right, I am joking, although it goes against my nature.

I brought it up to bring everyone's attention to the curious things that have been going on in RS's scanner department. What's up with those guys?

Wow, how can they price the unit at that? Most companies who have distribution outlets have certain guidelines for pricing. There's generally a low end limit to protect their channel, but many times there are high end limits as well, or at least "strongly encouraged" high end limits to keep the distributor on as a valid channel. The point of signing on a distributor is to have them sell your equipment, not discourage buyers or direct them to competitive products.

I purchased a Uniden 396xt on 7-7-2010 at The Indianapolis Hamfest from Norm at Hobby Radio Stop for $480.00 and this was a cash price.Has great audio and I am very happy with the radio.
