how unmutse when says audio muted
on a uniden 396xt radio i dont mine listening to encryption on the radio my 651 has that on it

This is a bit hard to read, but I'm pretty sure that the muting of encrypted sigs is in the firmware - can't override that easily. Most people don't want to hear that noise anyway, as its unintelligible in any case...Mike

Use your 651 to listen to encrypted noise. The 396xt is set up to not only mute, but ignore encrypted signals.

Strangely Uniden then came out with the x36 radios that continue to ignore and mute phase 1 encrypted signals, but blast away on the phase 2 encrypted transmissions.

thanks for your input I didn't know it could do that ill keep reading my manuel I guess is 325 scanner better than 396xt I hear a lot about it
