0125UTC on 4007KHz (here's the kicker)USB. Two guys heard very faintly discussing computer stuff for a few minutes. Isn't this a MARS freq? Navy? Did I get them from the midwest? I'm not a ham (yet)-I hear their callsigns start with "NNN-zero..."

No, this the the marine band. If you check that MT Top 1000 HF list, it'll show you this...

Marine starts at 4000khz and is spaced out every 3khz.

NNN-zero-xxx is a Navy/Marine Corps MARS callsign.

Surprise they can do this in the marine band. Are you still hearing them? Nothing up here but static...

No Nick-they just got on and off quick. One guy was stumped on his computer and called the other guy. Definitely succinct and brief-which made me chase it because it wasn't your casual ham convo.

The Army MARS nets are pretty active in the 4000 KHz range.
In the past I have picked up a net on 4024 KHz that simulcast here on 143.990.

Yep, MARS - and according to some comments on MT and Van Horn's blog, a good chunk of this activity is going away soon...73 Mike

Too bad Mike-figures though don't it? Brandon I saw that station of yours-it looks like it would get the moon if someone had a radio there:D
I have gotten some weak stuff on 4026,9 too-illegible but managed a callsign "alpha alpha alpha...." tried my damdest to get the convo-you know, standing with one foot up and my head turned sideways:D and all the filtration choked up-DAMM if I only had another 50' of space for more line..

Some MARS guys are on 4027 LSB @ 0255z. Sounds like they're testing radios.

AAR0MW is the guys call sign.
