Seeing as how the 436 has the worst ever sd card holder, it's probably a lot better to fix or have the usb port fixed than mess with that flimsy sd card holder. Sometimes just swapping batteries in mine causes the no card error.

My SDS100 is a close contender. It's literally a delicate surgical procedure to lift the stupid thing up from the battery compartment surface to pop the card out.
