R6 IC R6 shuts off

My R6 will just shut off for no reason. The batteries are fully charged and I am running it on the Icom drop in charger. ( yes, it is plugged in ). Any suggestions?

You sure the batteries have not gone bad?

Yes, they are new and it is running off wall power.

I hesitate to mention this but have you checked the "power off" setting in the menu?
It should be set to "off".

Yes, all settings are right, It just shuts down at random times.

What type of rechargeable batteries are you using, ie NiMH and capacity?

Does it shut off when you remove it from the charger and running on batteries only?

I am using duracell NiMH 2200.. It still shuts off when on batteries at times also, not just while plugged in.

This to me points to a power issue. I’d make sure the battery connectors are mechanically solid and very clean.

Does it shut off on battery only, not in the charger? And will it power back up after it shuts off? Does it have to sit awhile before powering back up? Possibly a component is overheating when remaing in the charger for long periods of timw?

Battery and charger, I can power it right back on.

Any chance you programmed it with an early version of Butel software? I seem to remember that if you programmed a bank for scanning with duplicate channel index numbers, or maybe non-contiguous numbers...it would cause instability in the radio.

Why not see if Icom can repair it? Repair - Icom America

Icom said that it "would not be cost effective" to send it to them..
