Happy Friday, everyone!

Trying to figure out OnQ. Looks like a lot of cool content on there but I never get any voice data. Just doesn't seem right to me.I got a great signal and TONS of activity.

My setup is pretty basic. 1 SDR on a Discone antenna.

On launch I open:
1st) FMP24-CC.bat with the line: FMP24 -rc -i1 -o20001 -P0.0 -f422.200
2nd) 1R.bat

I've attached a screenshot of the FMP24 screens.

Should this be hopping with voice data?
If I dial in other frequencies, I get voice without issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

My first thought is it's not tuning to a voice frequency. You will need to edit. FREQUENCIES, NETWORKS, SITES, and SITE LOADER files, specifically.

The frequencies file is probably not populated. There is very specific syntax to follow, but there are examples in each text file.
Be sure not to save as .txt, but change to .frequency.

You need to add the site channels to the DSDPlus.frequencies file:

Some are no longer in use, but adding them won't hurt anything.

As a premium member, you should be able to download system/site data from the RR DB and copy it into your DSD+ data files.

Greatly appreciated.
I added them in and fired right up with voice. Albeit much less action being a Saturday morning, it appears to be working great.

So, I thought that I could just open those two files and tap around to different channels and it would trunk as needed without loading files. Works on many. But there are also lots that are quiet.

Can I or should I simply download my whole area for all the various trunking and do a big data dump in that one file?
I'm in a fun area with direct sight lines to Whitby, Ajax, Pickering and the CN tower.

Too many sites can cause missed calls. Many of the TG are on multiple sites. I suggest stick with one site until your familiar with which users are active there then add in other sites to expand the users you may be interested in or are missing.

From the Notes.txt file:

If FMPx is tuned to a P25 control channel, DSD+ will automatically start trunk tracking
and decoding unencrypted Phase I and Phase II voice traffic.

For some NEXEDGE and Tier III control channels, DSD+ will automatically start trunk tracking.

For most NEXEDGE and Tier III systems and for all Capacity Plus and Connect Plus systems,
accurate channel data for the site being monitored has to be added to the DSDPlus.frequencies
file to enable trunk tracking.

Yes, you should place a truckload of (non-P25) site channel records in the DSDPlus.frequencies file.

Really appreciated that info as it got it going just fine.
Now, I'm trying to pinpoint more the ones that I want to hear and omit those that I don't.

Where I'm a little puzzled looking at the list here (OnQ Network Trunking System, Multiple Locations, Ontario), I can't figure out how you associated the OTA channel Number to the TX frequency.
How would I make that link?

If you click on the actual CN Tower site name in the DB, you'll see more details (OTA channel number <-> freq association)

Ahhhhh.. This dim light bulb is now starting to shine :)
Thank you!!!

So now, if I want to only pick up activity from 1 specific company, using the first one on the list as an example, how would I specify that?

I'm assuming the DEC would be specified but where?

It'll pick them up all by default, regardless of whether you enter anything. But to enter specific ones, that information goes in the DSDPlus.groups file. Just open up the DSDPlus.groups file and read what it says about adding entries.

You can add them all, and then simply lock all out but the one you want (which then will allow you to later unlock them and already have the entries in the DSDPlus.groups file). Or if you want to monitor all the traffic but hold a specific talkgroups traffic when it comes up, that option is available too.

I'd recommend adding all the groups to DSDPlus.groups and then just use the facilities within the Channel Activity Window to do things like raise/lower priorities, lock out / unlockout, hold, etc.

You should really read through the DSDPlus.txt file. That outlines how you do all of those things.

And if you pay for a subscription to RR, you can download the talkgroups (and other DSDPlus relevent info like networks, sites and frequencies from RR to copy right into the DSDPlus.* files).

I never add them manually (and as they are heard when you are monitoring, DSDPlus will already add them to DSDPlus.Groups). But I suspect an entry would look like this:

NEXEDGE48, 202, 199, 50, Normal, 0, 2022/01/20 8:11, "A Towing"

Things like timestamps, and hits will automatically update when talkgroup activity is seen. You can set the priorities / lockouts directly in the DSDPlus.Groups file or simply use the Channel Activity window facilities (as described in DSDPlus.txt).

Awesome. Thank you!

Yes, I'll give the txt a good read. I guess some of the challenges is linking the various terms from RR to DSD+

I do have premium RR. I saw how to download from RR but the formats not in line with DSD+. I can't figure out how that's done.

I've only been at this for a month. Learned a tonne, many more to go.

I hadn't realized that you couldn't download DSDPlus data for NXDN systems. At any rate, just monitor it regularly and as new talkgroups are seen in use they will automatically be added to DSDPlus.groups . Then you can edit DSDPlus.groups with a text file and add the descriptions for each of those talkgroups between the "" . Or, open DSDplus.groups and copy an existing 202 group entry and then past it x # of times. Then go through and add the descriptions manually. Shouldn't be too bad.

Well to be fair, even if I try here I can't find the download files: Bell FleetNet Ontario Provincial Government Zone 1 Trunking System, Southwest Zone, Ontario

I'm sure it's me.

I did make a new post to see what I'm doing wrong as I've been fighting this a better part of the day LOL

I looked and didn't see DSDPlus downoads for OnQ, but I do see DSDPlus downloads for my state P25 system. So it probably isn't something you have done -- the DSDPlus downloads just might not be available for systems other than P25 systems.

Can you send me the link to yours just so that I can see how it is?
