Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

XPR 7550e programming issue

I have a Motorola 7550e that has a very odd programming issue. When I connect the programming cable to the port without the other end of the cable being connected to the computer, it recognizes it as an accessory (gives accessory tone and shoes it on screen). When I plug the USB into the computer it does not give the tone that Windows is recognizing the radio and it doesn’t show in device manager. See pics below. I noticed that the programming port has one of the pieces of plastic broken away between pins. Cable works with other radios. Could this be causing it and Can the port be replaced or repaired?

I doubt the side port is an issue, especially since it's seeing the cable. Those are just stickers with holes cut out to hide the fact it's just a cheap thin bit of PC board on the side and lesser quality than you get with a Chinese TYT or something similar.

I'm assuming it's a PC driver issue of some sort.

What’s weird is that the computer sees other 7550’s just fine which made me think not a driver or cable issue. I ordered another cable to see how that works.

Hmm, then maybe it is the side port. It might be seeing the 1-wire ID pin but one or more of the USB pins are not connecting. It might be worth trying to clean up the pads a bit. I've had APX900s not see accessories when some of the adhesive from the port sticker oozed out over a pad just enough to cause a connection issue.

What kind of cable is it? If I recall correctly there are some cables that had issues with 7550e's specifically.
