I discovered a UHF-Motorola System in the Sherman area, the Control Channel was 453.2250 Which is assigned to Sherman Public Works. its a Loud Channel. alot of 4 and 5 digit ID's on this, However, I can't seem to find the rest of the system to be able to ID it. anyone have any pointers on this?

what kind of scanner are you monitoring this channel on?

453.2250 is shown as being used for the Sheriffs Juvenile Department.

OK, Just poped that into the radio, I still have a good CC on 453.2250. But, Lindsey. the last 4 frequencies you noted (460) incidently are the Main Frequencies in Use on Rockwall Cities LTR System. I wonder if Rockwall City Dumped the LTR and went Motorola?

Programed the way you note it, What would be the off-set and Base?

Technically your correct FPO, 453.2250 is Licensed to Grayson Co. Juvenile Authority. It's antenna is on a Water Tower. in addition, 460.2000 has been the Sherman Police/Grayson Co. Sheriff Tactical Frequency for some time.

Anyways, I'll watch it like this (Moto-Mode) for a while, I have T4Win on its way up here with a Good Tapped Radio and a User that can figure it out-while Mobile. I can barely Drive and talk on a cell-phone, I don't dare drive and figure out a System.

Thanks Everyone.

You shouldn't have to drive around. If you have a strong signal at home, just run t4win at home and gather the SysID and the connect tone for us. :)

Connect Tone: 82.5 hz

From the looks of it in the FCC Gen-Men I believe it may be Rockwall City Converting from LTR to Motorola. The date first used: 12/17/2004 The issue date is like 12/7/04. under the license WPLU704.

I'm getting ID hits on: 39600, 29744, 32528, 4112, 33552

However, I can still hear the LTR Intermentant Data bursts on the 460Mhz channels. best I can tell, Most of it is still LTR if its City of Rockwall. its obvious I am not tracking this thing corectly. but the CC is defenitaly 453.2250

No I am not gonna drive around (tonight) and ID this thing. Heck I have 2+ inches of Icy snow on the ground here in Trenton (Fannin Co.) and My car is Heater-less.

Guess What? It AINT Motorola!

It's EDACS Big time EDACS and 453.2250 seems to be Control-1. this would account for the odd ID's I was getting. I am listening to it on a Pro-2067 which doesn't decode EDACS in Normal AFS, But DEC instead. I can't get any of the voice channels, But the CC is EDACS. In Garland it is hearing the CC so well, I can hear the Data bursts in the Buzz of the CC.

Question is, How do I monitor a UHF EDACS System? Do I need to set a base and offset like Motorola? and if it is an operating EDACS system under the license Lindsey posts. How do I determin the Proper LCN order to even follow it correctly?

There is no base/offset setting for EDACS systems, just program the frequencies in proper order. Consult your scanner manual on determining the LCN order; I know Uniden manuals cover it anyway. Usually, the conversation jumps from channel to channel in ascending LCN order.

So, what's the skinny on this system?

Is it really EDACS? Is it being used?

I finally got ahold of my friend who works for the city of Rockwall. They are in the process of swapping radio systems. (from LTR to EDACS) they wanted better Security for Police and Fire. and more availability for expansion for DPW and eventually Sheriff and County Operations. He didn't know much about the specific details, But, they are currantly moving to it. I can't even say wether or not this is to be ProVoice. But were I a betting man? I'd bank on it! I don't know who is providing it or who is contracted for service. But it is Rockwall's New Primary System.

now that I have replaced the coax and antenna on the tower which was struck by lightning. My signals from Rockwall Co. have vastly improved.

the FCC Gen-Men DB gives the following info for ROCKWALL, CITY OF

WPWL704 Tower ID: 123645 Type: YW
Printed: 12/06/2004 Last Change: 12/03/2004
Issued: 12/03/2004 Expires: 12/17/2012

Record-1 460.2000
Record-2 460.2000
Record-3 460.2500
Record-4 460.3500
Record-5 460.4500
Record-6 453.2250
Record-7 453.8000

I still have 453.2250's Control Buzz comming accross as well as if I were under the tower itself. it displays CTL-01 But has no TG activity as of yet. Nor is there any Activity on the suspected Voice channels.

I am going to monitor the heck out of this thing till it decides to do something.
