PS - Officially, these two subsites are intended to provide better coverage in the West Milford area. Neither are going to do anything for Bergen County, seeing as how the Skyline Dr/Ringwood subsite @ 1,000'+ elevation sits right on the Bergen/Passaic border. There is too much high terrain separating northeast Passaic from northwest Bergen to make any appreciable difference in low laying places like Mahwah or Ramsey or USR. I'm not even sure if they would make much difference even if the Ringwood subsite were to go dark.
I agree. This would be too far to really increase reception in Bergen. I think I am close enough in Orange County, NY to likely get some signal off the new Warwick Tpke location. (Not far fetched I get some signal from the Morris County Simulcast at times) Not getting anything Passaic, so doubt it is live. Ill keep an eye out. Even if not at home, it would likely come in nearby.

It'll be interesting to see where the state finds the money for two new subsites. Let's also keep in mind that a subsite for West Milford was planned years ago and never came to fruition.
Allegedly one of the reasons its taken this long was because of land/tower rights.

Will help with agencies that have to travel to/through the area that do/will have access…NJSP, PCSO, Wanaque(soon coming on full-time, PD/FD), when/if they have mututal aid, transports, etc; and there is the ultimate question of when/if WMPD/other services join NJICS.

The two sites, for those who haven't looked up the addresses btw, are Macopin Fire Company 4 and Upper Greenwood Lake VFC.

At least this time they picked a location that isn't on a mountain they can't get power and fibre to... :)

Wanaque(soon coming on full-time, PD/FD)

Wanaque has switched. Database has been updated.

Sussex County usually gets the first decent snows of the season. While I cant’t hear Sussex, I can see. There is a larger block in use than in DB. 5497-5511. UT autopilot.

Sussex County must be loving NJICS, new 1900xxx radios being added daily now. When it snows clearly there will be a presence on the block (s).

This is being posed as a legitimate technical question regarding the NJICS, and is not intended to violate any forum rules or for disallowed discussion...so mods, please delete if it's an issue (or starts one)...

I'm noticing for many of the County and below level secure talkgroups, there appears to be quite a bit of ADP-40 being used rather than AES-256 when I look at the raw decoded data. Is that accurate? Or is it Unitrunker and SDRTrunk giving a bad decode? I'm seeing all AES for the State and Feds on the ICS, which is what I would expect to be used.

There is quite a bit of ADP used on ICS, yes. Many departments didnt consider encryption when purchasing radios so they came with ADP when ordered. These departments are now wanting to encrypt and dont want to spend the additional money for AES when ADP stops most listeners anyway.

Precise, informative, and to the point as always. Thanks Dave!

I know of at least one agency using Harris DES for the exact same reason.

I know of an agency that has a projected 6 month lead time for a KVL.
My opinion of ADP is lowly, at best. Perhaps a key, but the door is never really locked. The trend will continue for highest and best encryption. Perhaps 6 month delivery reflects this. Crimeradar App contributes.

Passaic County Simulcast, TG 5909, RID's 2356001-2356008. Lots of affiliations and voice traffic this morning. Just turning the radios on now.

Update: Talking about operating pumps and diagnostics.

5909 sounds like a hospital facilities and physical plant crew, or some type of utility station operation. Hand full of gents opening and closing pumps, oxygen readings and gauges, issue from a sensor getting wet.

Have you received either TG on the Hunterdon Simulcast? Almost wonder if it's the NJSWA. Which granted, wouldn't make sense being on the Passaic Simulcast...
I have logs 5909 on Sites 01,17,58. about a dozen radios. Mostly Site 17.

Yes, and only about 4.5 miles from the Watchung subsite of the UC simulcast.
This site looks nicely into Southern Morris County and the Chatham’s too.
Federal Grant monies at work, along with people behind the effort. We shall see if this will bring Summit PD and Berkely Heights Fire and PD onto the NJICS.

Without a doubt help all emergency responders on portables who operate at incidents in the infamous “mixing bowl” of RT24 and RT78 in Summit, Springfield.

Berkeley Heights Fire (Union County) being seen and heard on NJICS after a long absence. Two Tone paging as well on the TG, Dispatch pair 727/1185. Some RID’s and some patched traffic. Dispatch and response by Union County 2400.

4637 (UC Fireground 10/Union County)
