I've been picking up transmissions on the subject line frequency about 1 bar from southern Montco for the past year or so when I stumbled upon it during my UHF searches. Repeater doesn't ID so I'm guessing it's a part of Radio Maintenance WRFL538. Anyway its users I'm guessing are farmers with PA Dutch accents, conversations at times seem long winded and casual. Modulation is a bit on the low end but I overheard one guy say something about the ongoing PA Farm Show. Anyone able to pinpoint who uses this? If not I'll make the DB submission with the generic "AgriBiz" tag

Just throwing spitballs here John, I guess that's how it's done huh?

The Pennsylvania Dutch Amish accents makes me think of all of the cooperatives and Amish markets between Exton and Lancaster, like the Downingtown Farmers Market- growing Roots partners, Eagleville Farmers Market Westtown Amish market and all the others heading out towards Lancaster. Lots of Growers out there, seems like they would be linked on one repeater. Just thinking out loud. Interesting thread.

I think of each entity as an independent (family run) business, There is no coordination with competitors, every enterpise/biz is independent.
And they rarely say company names OTA (they already know who they are talking too.) :geek: Usually a Stoltzfus, Esh, Lapp, Glick.. ect

I've documented some wonderful dutch/amish farming ops on the Mid Atlantic DMR system and it was very well received on Tiktok. The ham radio community has encountered an influx of dutch/amish/mennonite operators over the past few months. Very cool to see ham radio get into a community you wouldn't really expect it.

Wow, that's fantastic, cool.. please expand and tell me more, never did I think we were talking about ham radio or even legally licensed frequencies per se.

Ham radio, what frequencies? That would be really interesting and I would be very much interested in hearing more about that. Again, this is a highly competitive agricultural business as has been said, fiercely competitive families. Not to say.. there is some social cooperativeness in time of need.

Can you provide more information about the DMR frequencies?

There has been lots of activity on the SPARC K3IR 145.230 (118.8) in Manheim, W3RRR 147.015 (118.8) in Lancaster City, and W3ND 145.110 (131.8) in Dauphin County.

DMR activity has been on TG 2195 of the MADRN system on the Blue Mtn site in Dauphin County. See a TikTok of such traffic.

Happy listening!

Thanks for that find, very cool, thanks again. I had no idea the activity and would never know if I didn't stumble on the thread.

That's very interesting. I'm in Crawford County. Lots of Amish up here but I've never experienced an Amish with an amateur license.
