482.8625 Area 0 LCN 11 Free 7 8 11 14 Comtex Communications (Crowley)

Trying to pin down exactly where this transmission is coming from. Comes in loud and clear and almost constant communications. At first I thought it was gas well related, then concrete, then wastewater, then oil and gas... Best information I can find is Comtex Communications but they might just own the system being used. Who is using the channel is my question?

It appears to be part of this system:
Self Radio (Crowley) Trunking System, Crowley, Texas - Scanner Frequencies

Multiple companies can lease access to the system by paying a fee, usually based on the number of radios used and how many minutes of usage per month. The tank trucks generally haul waste water from oil or gas wells. Salt water is often brought up with the gas or oil, and collected in tanks at the wellhead. These tank trucks make the rounds, emptying the tanks and taking the brine to a disposal site. Could be more than one company, so unless you actually spot one of the trucks, no specific way to identify them individually.

wouldnt work. (yes i know you were kidding but still) Unless your Baofeng is a LTR Trunking radio simply transmitting on the conventional channel wouldnt work. The receiving radio would see carrier activity on the channel but wouldnt unmute audio unless the proper LTR channel ID was being broadcast with the group ID..

heheh but you knew that..

No, I don't know anything really. I am learning though, thanks to information like yours. Studying for Technician and just bought this Baofeng because it was so cheap and the reviews are so high. The other radios may not be able to hear me, I have no idea, but if I tap the transmit button my other scanners pick up the click.
