• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Most (if not all) of the 42.xx w/ 173.8 should be the NC Highway Patrol. Unsure about the origin of anything else.

In addition, I experienced significant interference on my local FOX station on TV Ch 2. Based on the logo and information I could see, I believe the interference is coming from WUND-TV, a public TV station in Edenton, NC. The interference mostly consisted of the image of WUND ghosting in the background of the local station, but at its peak the local TV picture was distorted with occasional loss of color and/or sound.

I was on duty at HP Asheville (NC State Highway Patrol) 29 May 2008. I was receiving Missouri State Highway Patrol cars on 42.780 pl 173.8 from the Linville, NC site and others. This started around 1930 hrs and on into the evening.

The cars were loud and clear calling St. Joe (some better than my cars calling Asheville).
