To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Good day

On a IC-5023H

Anyone know if it's possible, and if so how, to program one of the "P" buttons to select a specific memory channel?

I would like to be able to select say, P4, so that it would go to a specific frequency. I can't see how that can be done going through the options in the software.

Thank you

I don't have your model radio, but I have the software for it, it's also for the F3021/4021 h-t's, I have the F4021S

Program the frequency that you want fast access to in Memory 1, 2, 3, or 4
Go to Common, then Key & Display, then the particular P button you wish to use [say P3], in the drop down functions you have the choices of MR-CH1, MR-CH-2, MR-CH3, & MR-CH4

[On my h-t's I use P0 for High/Low power output, I know it's a zero, not an O, but it's close enough for me]

I hope this helps

Thanks Greg

I did find that, but what I cant figure out is how or where to assign Frequencies to the 4 locations (MR-CH1 etc)

I ended just assigning the frequency as Priority A and then assigning Priority A to the P button

Still like to know how to assign frequencies to the MR locations. Be great if you could tell me that.

Thank you
Gord

Good Morning Gord;

Are you using zones? That probably will make a difference in setting up.

I'll have to play with the software & experiment a little, as I haven't used the P buttons for channel access

Greg

Worst scenario is to contact Icom Canada support, they're actually in Delta, how lucky can you get LOL

Yes I am using ZONES.

LOL I have touched base with ICOM (actually only 10 minutes away) Very helpful and quick.

They told me I had to Program the frequency as a Priority (A or B) and then assign that to a P button. They were closed when I got around to it yesterday evening and posted here as an alternative.

I will send them a note this morning and ask as well.

OK, FYI, Just chatted with ICOM.

Haven't had a chance to try yet but as far as I understand it, the MR-CHx channels are self assigned.

They are the first 4 channels stored in the list in whichever ZONE you are in.

If you change ZONES, the memory are then the first four in that ZONE. If you don't use ZONES they will simply be the first four in memory.

I'll give it a go later and see if I have it correct.

I kind of figured that was the way it would work, but I'm relatively new to using Icom

I use zones, but I don't use direct access

But with your input, I think I'll set up a direct access button or two & try it
