GUNNISON COUNTY - Four hikers were injured by a lightning strike near the town of Marble Monday, including a 16-year-old who was resuscitated twice by CPR.

The victims were struck as they huddled under a tree during a thunderstorm in the Silver Creek area of Lead King Basin, four miles northeast of Marble.

Carbondale Fire Chief Ron Leach says the 16-year-old was suffering from numbness and tingling and was transported to a hospital in Glenwood Springs.

The Aspen Times reports a 22-year-old woman suffered burns on both legs, while the strike left another man's face bloodied and another person with minor injuries.

Initial reports were that seven people were struck by lightning. Members of the group hiked into Marble to call 911 and get help for the others.

More details on the injuries and the identities of the victims were not immediately released.
