Hello.
I live in Iowa. They are building out a statewide 700 network. My county voted to expand the coverage and I live where they are going to have 12Db indoor portable coverage. The system for my county is a 4 site simulcast network. Will I need to put an antenna on my roof or should I be good having the scanner in my house? I live 1.85 miles, as a crow flies, from the prime site location for this 4 site simulcast system.
I intend on providing a live feed of the system to broadcastify once it's up and operational(12 to 18 months). The system is just about to go live on a state level and I could pick up mobile transmission from state agencies that are operating in the area, but it wont be my local agencies until they put the system live.
If I need an antenna setup, would I be good with a directional antenna and pointing it at the closest site or should I go omni-directional?
