I am able to receive the 800 mhz frequencies with no problem,as for the 900 mhz channels I hear nothing. Is it my antenna or is it that I am not searching the channels properly. I have a PR0-94 and a PRO-164. I am using a rubber ducky antenna that I bought for $20.00 and I also use a scan duck mobile antenna. I was told that 900mhz is a lot harder signal to receive than the 800 mhz.

I live in Woodside,Queens. I am trying to listen to the MTA (ex: DOT) BUS TRUNKED SYSTEM

935.450*, 935.4625*, 935.4875, 936.450, 936.4875, 936.700, 938.000, 938.225, 939.1875.

Well, living in woodside should pose no problem in you hearing in the 900 band. The mta frequencies must be programmed as a trunked system in order to follow the conversation. You will hear one sided talk if you hold on a conventional 900 voice channel but miss the other side. Another concern is your system is not very active with regular talkgroups like a public safety trunked system would. It runs on private call chatter mostly, meaning, your receiver must be private call enabled like a uniden 330tor 396 or a radio shack pro 106.

check,

Are you sure you've got all of the system's frequencies loaded in? To my knowledge, the MTA Bus system is under FCC call sign WPIT-566 and there's a different collection of frequencies there.

Thanks for the replies guys. My problem then is with the scanners and not the antennas. The way that I am searching is after pressing trunk, manual I type in the frequency.935.412,from there I press the up or down key,on my scanner(pro-94)it only goes up to 956.000,I hear those annoying noises like if the channel was scrambled.

What are those frequencies? I can't find them. I do have those frequencies loaded in and sometimes I am able to hear both sides of the conversation but the reception is very poor, cuts in and out. I believe the transmitter for these 900 mhz frequencies is not in the same place as the 800 mhz frequencies.

The guy that I bought my scan duck portable antenna from said that 900mhz channels are harder to receive than 800 mhz channels.

Thanks SCANdal. I am hearing a lot of activity on 938.0000. Bob,I don't know how to program talk groups on my pro-94,I know there is more to trunking then just programming a frequency.
