You need to read up on how those aircraft are used and the security precautions that are taken routinely to protect the location of the President and his aircraft in transit.

I have seen two aircraft simultaneously using AF1 on Mode-S. This is not unusual, especially during overseas trips.

I'm quite aware of the precautions. I've been part of details protecting it (on the ground at least).

But since it departed FL for DC, I wouldn't really consider that an overseas flight :)

The PlanePlotter network in New England was able to get mlats on AF1 during the return flight from POTUS's Middle East trip last evening. ATC audio on my BC780XLT confirmed that it was indeed AF1 with POTUS onboard.

AF1 recently arrived in the SF Bay Area (today).

NO ADS-B was noted but I was able to get MLAT fix on it though.

Interesting, it was not transmitting the "AF1" callsign through MODE-S like it normally does. I almost missed it because I flag "AF1" as an alert instead of the registration 92-9000. Guess I need to set up alerts for both.

I've track AF1 in Mode-S only, no ADS-B while tracking them on VHF with Boston Ctr. With that said, I've seen snapshots from Europe showing full ADS-B datablocks.

AF1 has recently only started showing on FR24, its a regular on PP (planeplotter) via MLAT but as they have the power and means on the sam flight it can show as any aircraft it wants with obama onboard, good when you get it aswell with the comms, nrmally shows and heard as SAM... over the uk doesn't use the AIRFORCE1 callsign much

Biker, although it's my understanding AF1 typically flies without fighter escort; was there any indication of an escort other than the usual support aircraft. Fighters I don't believe are ADS-B compliant although I have tagged more than a few flying out of the test range in Nevada in the past on planefinder. So go figure.
