Can anyone give advice on how to program a 996p2 for a one freq p25 system.
I am familiar how to program the 995p2 for a p25 system that uses a control channel but not one that uses the same channel
as voice too.
I found the freq using the custom search settings in the 996p2.
Upon holding on single freq it will decode p25 voice but does not display a system id, voice freq, or talkgroup id.
The single freq appears to be both.
Any recommendations would be helpful.

Assuming the comms system you want to include is listed in RadioReference.com, sign up for the automatic download service and see if their data includes those parameters you seek. RR charges a very reasonable fee for this service.

could it be conventional ?
I was thinking that, as well. You'll get UID and NAC, but not talkgroups or systems or anything like that. Not all P25 are trunked.

Locally (Humboldt Bay, California), much of the PD/FD activity is P25 conventional. Only the state & feds use P25 trunked systems (but not exclusively trunked).

So, my initial advice is: program the channel as conventional, digital (P25), NAC search.
