I cant seem to get the UASD software to see my 996T. I have tried usb and com 1 on two computers. All attempts give scanner not connected. One pc gives a model not supported error when trying to read from scanner. Another pc gives cheack settings on scanner. Serial port settings seem ok.

Per advised I set the com port on my pc to 7 and it will detect a modem but not my scanner.
Any known issues with the 996t ports?
I have spent a few nights messing with it.
Now I am thinking about trying to exchange it tomorrow.

Are you using the front port on the 996? If so check that the baud rate setting is correct for the front port. If you use the back port you need to use a null-modem adapter and change the baud rate from 4800 to match your com port speed.

Menu/settings/set serial port/set buad rate/set front (or back) port/<baud rate>
Your com port needs to be the same baud rate.

If you use the Butel ARC996 demo or clone program, it will poll the connection to see if it can connect to the radio.

Other than that, you could have something wrong with the serial connection on the 996 and need to get another one in exchange.

Try to set the baud at the highest on your computer. What type of
cable are you using? If you are using a hub, that could be part of your
problem.
