That screen shot is my feed scanner located in my house. I checked the UNIDEN site, OMG they changed the site and getting to My Scanners page is really hard now. The scanner (996XT) was purchased (according to the registration) in May, 2010 which means NO it is not under warranty. I had a 996T before (which I sold) and it never ever had a screen issue like this. Right now with my wife being laid off last week and all I guess I won't worry about repair costs of $50 + shipping for this, some would say, minor problem.
Getting back to Uniden site change. I had to re-register because my User Name and Password wouldn't work. Then the whole site is now geared towards Sales and getting to D/Ls or My Scanner registration takes a little effort. So nobody else has this problem with the 996XT?

If youre technicial ,take the front part of the scanner off there is a rubber-like contact between the LCD and the PC board.I would try and clean the PC board AND the LCD with a clean eraser then put it back together.
We have these issues with LCD displays at work, where the contacts get dirty or loose and it just does what it wants to,chances are the LCD display is fine! This should fix the issue 90 percent of the time.
If the display is bad, then it will need replacement.
