New Unit ID's Heard

Today I heard Paramedic 23 being dispatched. This was the first time I've heard that unit ID For the last couple of weeks or so I've also heard Medic 6 being dispatched.

Paramedic 23 and Ambulance 59 were in service today because of the expected weather. The Fire Department routinely "staffs up" for storms, etc. A few weeks ago (I think during another ice storm or snow) you may have heard Medic or Paramedic 51 -- just for the day. On occasion during big events, you'll hear additional medical units in Annapolis City also -- Paramedic 38, etc. As for Medic 6 -- that's a more permanent unit now. That went into affect several weeks ago. I'm thinking that Herald Harbor's call volume has at least doubled since that was started.

Thanks for clearing things up on PM 23.
Re medic 6:
I always thought that it was a stretch for the existing ALS units ( I usually hear medic 40 or PM5 dispatched) to service the Crownsville area. Especially with all the residential growth in that area.

Yeah - however, the flip/downside of having the unit at Hearld Harbor being a Medic now is that the staffing for the unit is usually the engine crew -- that is - if the medic goes out, the Harbor is without a fire crew during that time as well... and if you see how things work suring a normal day, it's not unusual for a medic unit to be pulled which may get several back to back calls over a period of hours before they get back to staff the engine. But it's a trade off - since something like 70-80 percent of calls these days are medical in nature, the staffing has to go where the need (statistically) is....

Does Anne Arundel County Fire Department have their CAD online to view? I saw on other pages, other counties and states have their's online for anyone to view.
