What receivers are suggested for best reception of this band? Just curiuos

Manny

An RTL SDR dongle or AirSpy or SDRPlay work fine.
(His frequencies are inaccurate and do not indicate the mode.)

Here is the page with software and more info on some of the modes:
JAERO
and here is webpage put together with his, my, and others help showing frequencies:

Thanks for the links and for clearing that up. I already have a few of the newest NooElec dongles. I thought there might be other equipment I was not aware of.

You can in the Eastern US (as I am) easily see the birds at 44 W and 98 W with a sufficient antenna and low noise amplifier.

So with the patch antenna L band I will receive ACARS uplinks from ground? So I will need a C band LNB and dish .90 cm to receive dowlinks? Do the doe links have ACARS data or just positions?

Many apologies for the late reply , just recovering from triple bypass op and trying to catch up with posts etc.

To receive traffic from the a/c you need the C band downlink.
Minimum dish size for 15 west is 90cm....for some of the other sats , such as Alphasat at 25 east a larger antenna is needed , min 1.5m.

The T channel signals contain positional data which we use in PlanePlotter to track Oceanic traffic.
Some ACARS type messages are also transmitted..for example....

ACARS on INMARSAT

Hello !

Please I need your help! I'm listening ACARS on Inmarsat about 2 Years with my Equipment here in Austria. but now I missing the transmitting GES 43 + GES 44 the satellite on 15 W I think!
in different Forums they say Inmarsat is changing the satellits from 15 W to 54 W. Is it so? can you receive the 54 W Satellit and on what frequency? for now I receive GES 90 and the 64 E Satellite. If you receive the 54 W please send a short message to me.

many thanks with the best regards from Austria

Gerhard
