I've worked on this for hours, I'm not getting anything. I have my scanner hooked up acarsd software up and clicked start server, it displays my server id number. My scanner is on 131.55, SQ turn off, with the static coming through good through my pc speakers. I'm up to date under database manager in acarsd. I'm hearing what appears to be a acars transmission based on xamples I found on the internet but no displayed info, sounds relatively clear too. Can someone help or point me to some good resources. Thanks

Check your volume settings. Acarsd should read about a 9 when hearing static and about 30 when receiving a transmission. Incorrect volume settings too high or low will prevent decodes. I would suggest CRC to be off until you receive decodes. You might check your audio properties, when using windows
1 double click your speaker in the task bar
2 go to options
3 then properties
4 click in adjust volume for recording and make sure a check mark is in line in and microphone.
5 click ok
6 make sure a check is in the select box for either line in or microphone in the recording control (depends on which one you have the scanner connected to)

If all the above appears ok but still not receiving decodes more info is required such as the operating system and acarsd version and whether you are using line in or microphone for your audio in. Most likely your audio settings are not correct causing a problem. When receiving audio into the computer the volume should fluctuate accordingly.

Are you seeing a number other than 0 next to the [ vol: ] when receiving a transmission?

Where is this volume meter in Acarsd? Also do you have to start server under the server menu to get any transmission? Thanks

David, it sounds like you are doing everything fine, have you listened to what the scanner's audio to see what it is hearing. I found that I had an antenna issue when I was first running mine. Let it run for awhile to see if its hearing anything. It sounds like you have it setup fine.

Also listen to the audio through the computer to see if there are any noise, I was having trouble with the audio cable picking up some noise, so I added a matching transformer.

You don't have to have the server running to get a transmission.

When you receive a transmission the audio volume should rise according. If you turn the volume up and down on the scanner and the volume number changes in acarsd then you are on the right path.

Using the microphone instead of the line in sometimes helps, but the line in would be preferred.

Also you can go into the Acarsd settings and lower the number of soundcard buffers to around 4 or so, I believe it is at 7 on default and see if that helps with decodes.

The 4 zeros following the Vol: are the volumes for up to 4 different soundscards. If your just using one soundcard the first number is your volume.
