• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I don't know if anyone is still looking for the actual original software from Uniden/Bearcat. I do see people talking about the mythical software that used to be downloaded from the website, I have a Uniden BC898T and after sending emails back and forth with Uniden, I managed to get a full copy of this very outdated, to say the least software, if anyone is interested in this software feel free to PM me, I see what I can do about either getting it out there to ya, or getting the info to get it yourself. The download included the BC898T_SS file, with 2 folders BCSS and Manual. I am sure this is old new to the most of you all, but figured I would try and help out the community.

To be perfectly honest, I don't know why anyone would want the original software. It wasn't updated for rebanding, and isn't compatible with the web service. I'm pretty sure ARC898 was updated for rebanding and is web service compatible...best regards..Mike
