All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I added a Tram dual band magnet mount antenna for my GMRS rig to my car. I have a Tram 3500 (Wilson 1000 clone) on the trunk lid. I moved the Tram CB antenna to the passenger side of the trunk lid and the dual band (much smaller) to the other side of it. Will adding the dual band antenna cause me any issues with my CB antenna?

I am kicking around ditching the 3500 and going back to the Tram 300, and putting the 300 on the roof (the 3500 is a hair too tall and looks like hell on the roof) and then putting the dual band on the trunk lid.

Thoughts?

I don't think it would cause any problem with it, GMRS is pretty far away from CB as far as frequency goes, worst case it may just cancel an incoming transmission if you key it at the same time that the CB is receiving.

The only issue is you've created lopsided ground planes for each antenna, which will likely make them slightly directional.

Usually putting UHF antennas on the trunk results in some shadowing towards the front of the car. If you can get it on the roof, it will have a better ground plane and no shadowing. Put the CB antenna back on the center of the trunk.

Moving...
As mckenna said --moving the antenna will cause more of an issue than the other antenna will....just be sure to retune the antenna if you're going to leave it there...

I would keep everything centerline - gmrs antenna on roof & cb on trunk ...
