Any issues with using an aftermarket 8 ohm speaker on my new SDS200? I figured probably not but it doesn"t hurt to ask rather than taking a chance of smoking something inside my new scanner.

This is from the Uniden manual for the external speaker I use...

Tip of the plug being the left...

As Doc mentioned he is using computer speakers... It should feed the same audio to the left and right...

If you want a great speaker, take a look at the Anker Soundcore 2. I use it in my semi truck and it's fantastic! It's a bluetooth speaker but I just plug it into my sds200 with an aux cord. I only have to have the volume on 9 using it instead of around 14 with a regular external speaker. It lasts over 2 days on a charge and the sound quality is phenomenal. Picked it up for around $38.

I use the same Motorola 2 ohm speaker as the professionals use, connected to my SDS100 and sounds really good with lots of power. I wouldn't think it would by any different with the SDS200 as both my BCD536 and Whistler TRX-2 also sounds great with that speaker.

I have a '16 Sorento with an "aux" input (mini plug) into the sound system. I used to use it with my 436 and SDS100. Now I use it with my SDS200.

I received a Christmas gift of a Amazon Echo 4, the bowling ball, Im not a fan of these things, the novelty wore off in about 15 minutes, I will plug it in and stream certain radio stations then unplug and throw in the corner, when I received the SDS200, I decided to test echo as extenal powered speaker as it has a aux that is capable of line in or out, the switching must be done by an app. When I plugged the SDS200 into the echo 4, I got a audible hum, I also got the same hum when plugging another peripheral in, so its an echo problem, but when the SDS200 hit a working channel, the hum stopped and the audio out of the scanner was incredibly good, it was way better than any of my external communication speakers, so the first thing that came to my mind was, now I have and excuse to tear this echo apart, Im going to tear it down and find the problem, also looking to decommission certain things, there are no schematics as Amazon wants you to know nothing, not a problem I say, Im not interested in bluetooth, I have a great Marshall bluetooth speaker, and yes I tested the SDS200 on it and the audio was primo, so the echo will get dissected, studied then attacked by my soldering irons, well see how this project turns out, it could be a dud, but what the hell,I love diving into this kind of stuff.
Not sure what happened to my post count, it may have something to do when I changed password, or its been a while since Ive posted.

You need a ground loop isolator between the scanner and the echo, or you're shorting out part of the audio signal, and the amplifier doesn't like that.

Also, the headphone jack is approximately line level, but the speaker jack on the back is not. Don't ever connect a speaker output to a line input.
