Anyone experiencing the same reception problems as me with the Aiken 800 system? Audio has been intermittently clear then garbled. Have not changed antenna or scanner location.

Yes and I think the radio service has it fixed now. Also, there was severe ducting earlier in the week and it could have caused some interference.
I haven't heard any interference today, maybe the thunderstorm last night cleared up some atmospherics...

So far, better here today as well. I was contemplating buying an external antenna which I may still do for SO talk on UHF 150. They have been using it fairly often with regional saturations. I might get several more miles from it. I appreciate your response.

R&L Electronics HUSTLER DCX [DCX] - DISCONE MONITOR ANTENNA 40-999MHz RECEIVE ONLY ANTENNAS ANTENNA

This works good, for vhf/uhf and especially for 800 MHz.

Also, Ollies in town has RG-6 Quad Shield, 200 ft., $20.00
