Other factors too... The radio shop can only install so many radios per day. And, they aren't the only customers. Plus availability of officers, whether or not the agency will pay OT for an officer to go to the radio shop for an install, etc

New Talkgroup not in Database, it is 22208. It is Phase II Unencrypted. Sounded like Gulf Shores PD using it for shrimp fest. Talking about they were west of the stage and looking for a missing kid that fire located.1xx unit numbers and also heard dispatch.

The silence of VHF repeaters in Shelby County Alabama or another possibility - you can't fix a multi-million dollar trunked radio system with duct tape, coat hangers and jumper cables.

It may be possible but I'm waiting on the wrong person to unplug the right patch cable and plug a different one in. [emoji3] And yes it is bound to happen

Depends on who you want to try to hear.
Most agencies are using phase 1.
Those marked with a t use phase 2 .
I have had great results with uniden scanners.
Are you wanting a handheld or base unit .
I personally would not recommend any homepatrols
Scan rate is horrible.
Let me know if you want a handheld or base.
Also who you are trying to hear .

I live in Alabaster and the main ones I want to listen to is the local PD and FD although it would be nice to be able to listen to Pelham and Calera as well. I would prefer a base unit but would consider a handheld unit. Thanks for your advise.

OK ,
Sorry for the late reply .
Any uniden scanner capable of receiving p 25 trunking .
Base :
Uniden BCD 996 t
Uniden BCD 996 xt
If you are comfortable with eBay .you can find them
Their. I personally would not pay over 200.00 for a used one.
If you want to take the plunge and go all out with a new one .
The 996 p2 is the way to go. Its pricey .around 650 shipped maybe less.

I personally think a base unit is the best way to go. Listening to a trunked system is a bit different since the mobile and handheld units on the system are constantly roaming to different sites. And you will find that you will most likely have to put in every site's information in order to hear a complete conversation. Being a user on the system I can tell you I have roamed to different 3 different sites in 1 parking lot with my handheld radio.

Can anyone confirm if Alabaster PD and Fire is Phase 1 or Phase 2. I understand they are Phase 1 but someone with the PD that I know says they are Phase 2. I would like to know before I spend the money for a new scanner and find out I bought the wrong one.

Everyone one the system is phase 1 . The talk of phase 2 has been mentioned later down the road but it is. Not set in stone

I am hearing both on phase 1
Get a phase 2 scanner in case they do.
Alabaster fire is on fire west .
Just heard alabaster on phase1
My very trustworthy source has started that this will remain a phase 1 system .
